Fashion shows are no foreign concept and contrary to what you may believe they have a strong influence over your wardrobe. In my endeavor to find out what the future has in store in the men's fashion front; I embarked on a tour that concluded in Montreal, Canada. Montreal has long been known as the official "Headquarters of the Canadian Rag Trade," and the city bustles with high profile, prize winning designers in "Rue de la Montagne" fashion district.
Although the formal wear and classic cuts featured in many trend reports online are universal, I looked to Montreal for directional message in menswear. Forget the hype, in this article I present 3 futuristic trends that have the potential of taking over the high fashion streets and also easy enough to be adopted by the average man.
Military Inspiration
Prepare to defend yourself against the clothing rudiments that salute everything military. Spearheading the pack is Rudsack; available was a range of military regalia like the clip-on leather hoods, 3/4 fatigues with cargo pockets - also featured in leather, four pocket jacket, flight pants, just to name a few. Though the headgear may appear too literal, its military inspiration is irresistible. To adopt this trend you'll have to opt details such as utilitarian pockets on jackets and rivets on belts. Embrace the trend full with combat boots that are functional as well as stylish.
Mix and match
Dinh Ba is active with his idea combo. Dinh Ba paired various colors, prints and styles to achieve an individual look. I saw a black-and-white pinstripe oxford under a sandblasted printed blazer worn with casual motorcycle boots. While this kind of mixing and matching is best left on the runway, the idea is correct. The message is to achieve a look by mixing and matching different elements, even within a single item.
Lopsidedness
How does something like a classic sweater or jacket get updated season after season? Based on designer 'Philippe Dubucs show, it's all in the details; asymmetrical ones so to say. Similar to the big scarves, the neckline also appears to be an area of focus in Montreal; this was achieved through asymmetrical layers and zip-closures. I particularly liked the heavyweight pull-over jacket featuring a zipper that extends from the neckline to the armpit. Other more abstract pieces include a scarf -like vest with asymmetrical layering and leather zipper detailing. While some of these ideas are more conceptual than wearable, your best bet is to find some sweaters with interesting asymmetry next fall to provide a trendy alternative to your basics. This look should be reserved for weekend attire, and opt for darker colors to avoid excessive competition with the details.
"Mont-Royal" fashion trends
Let's put things in perspective, there is no doubt that a runaway show is nothing but a "show." Everything presented during the fashion week is always styled in a way that communicates and reinforces a designer's message besides attracting the media attention. In this article I presented ideas that go beyond the hype to help you achieve a refined final look for the season.

Kikoys A New High Fashion Trend
During the last years around the world fashion industry has being experiencing a kind of return to the tradition wit ethnic designs and patterns in both terms of color as well as shape. In the context many traditional fabrics, clothes and accessories have found their way back to our closet. African and Far East clothes can not be left out. One can say that they have gained territory and are presented as the fashion icon of the present days.
One of these styles that we have previously mentioned comes to us from Swahili and it is called kikois. You may not be familiar with the terms but you have most probably seen them somewhere. This term suggests the color design of a fabric with strips of different colors but it also means the way this fabric is used. This type of cloth is consisted on just one piece of cloth of a square cutting that is worn as a long skirt around the waist.
Even though it was traditionally used by Swahili male sailors and warriors, Western Civilization has modified its use to both men and women.
Created for the hot tropical temperatures there is not a surprise that this outfit is much used during summer time around the world. For a period it was somehow forgotten for it was considered as something too simple to be high fashion but as patterns change so has the position of this cloth.
What Changed Now?
First of all the fabrics became more elaborate. Traditionally this piece of cloth is made of cotton (100% cotton) witch keeps the individual wearing it cool regardless how high it is the temperature outside. The new technologies have made possible during the previous decades the cloth to be made of different materials that had a lower cost in comparison to cotton but they were more colorful and playful.
The trend today is for the fabrics to be made of organic materials such as the traditional cotton and the colors to be extract of biological origin. In this way the high quality the cloth is combined with the environmentally conscious choice of not using chemical colors that are bad for the health of people and are bad for the environment around us.
As people turn more and more toward these kind of choices it is only natural for them to look for them in different cultures that are more in touch with nature that western civilization and not only residents.
Another reason is the economic crisis that has stricken during the last years every part of the world. That has created a need for clothes that are both limited in terms of cost and multi functional. The kikoy is exactly that kind of cloth for on the one hand it has its traditional use but on the other one can use it as a scarf, a dress, a head band etc while one can also use them in the house for decoration reasons.
Is It A Matter Of Distribution Or Taste?
Todays society is both multicultural and highly globalize. In such an environment it is only normal that things that some decades ago seem light years away now are one click ago. It is not that these types of clothing can not be found if searched in a city but the internet age has brought everybody so close together.
On internet one can find a wide variety of such gowns as well as different qualities of fabric and different designs. You can enter every such providers boutique and find kikoy that most fit your personality. The easy way we have today access to so many products have encouraged the production of high quality product that are now more available to now as ever.
As technology progresses this kind of cloths become more known and there fore more available to more people. Individuals become more open minded and find them selves trying new things. As our mind broadens so are our choices and the more someone knows the more confident it feels to try something that it may not fit its previous patterns of aesthetics and design.
In conclusion one can say with certainty that simplicity, traditional fabrics and ethnic designs are back to fashion stronger and more creative than ever before.

New Fashion Classics
When we think of fashion classics we think of black, we think of A-line, we think of camel trench coats. But then there are other looks that one wouldn't call classics, that have become just that. Looks that came into fashion a few years ago and remain top sellers. These looks include:
1. Espadrilles:
Espadrilles are hot summer and spring shoes for both men and women. They are traditionally made of coloured clothe and have hemp soles. They come in a wide variety of colours making them easy to pair with almost any outfit. They are also extremely comfortable. While traditionally they are flat, wedged espadrilles have been a hot ticket item for women for many years. They often have ribbons that tie up a woman's ankle.
2. Quilted jackets:
Quilted jackets are ideal for autumn. They are made of thin material but have a nylon shell which protects from wind and rain. They are usually collared and come in monochrome colours like black, navy, beige and forest green. They have a country bumpkin look to them but also can be made quite trendy or worn with a more formal outfit. They are well suited to both men and women.
3. Checkered shirts:
Checkered shirts have seen a long lasting rerun over the past few years. What was a popular style in the early nineties has come back in full force. Their lumberjack feel has the ability to dress down any outfit and is well paired with everything from khaki trousers to black skinny jeans and a leather bomber jacket. As with any shirt, checkered ones come in a wide variety of colours from pinks, to browns to reds.
4. Military coats:
Army green cover-ups have been all the rage for what feels like a decade now. They come in full length, length and even sleeveless styles. Some have hoods, some are long, others are short, but most of them have lots of pockets, buttons and draw-strings. A style that once was restricted to casual wear has now been incorporated into more conservative looks.
5. Silver cufflinks:
Unlike the styles above, silver cufflinks didn't just come into style in the past decade, but they most certainly are a classic. And with men and women wanting to dress up their casual looks more these days it seems like everyone needs a pair of classic silver cufflinks.
There are some fashion styles that just work. They get adopted by some, followed by many and seem to stick around season after season. Of course, it is the responsibility of the fashion forward to find new ways to wear them.

Take A Fashion Dive With Modest Swimwear
Surprisingly enough, modest swimwear is becoming more popular with young women these days. Apparently, modest swimwear has many unique designs to suit the needs of their owner and gives everyone that attractive visage. The only problem is that some people do not approve of suits that may be too suggestive or exotic which is quite understandable. But that should not stop people from having fun anyway since it's not an intentional type of offense. Whatever the case may be, young adults and some adults choose modest swimwear for their day.
While still a niche market, it has grown enough of a consumer base for even the biggest names in water apparel manufacturing to take note, such as premium storied labels like Speedo and Dolfin. But why modest swimwear? It seems an odd choice, given the nature of the aquatic environment. What is modesty, and why has it become so important that even young women would choose to inconvenience themselves at the beach or the pool, a place that has traditionally been sensual and even hedonistic? How is it possible to fully enjoy oneself in a water-based environment without feeling unencumbered, anyway?
Most of the demand for modest swimwear is due to religious reasons. The rise in religious fundamentalism around the world, whether Christian, Jewish, or Islamic, has created a slowly but steadily growing market for appropriate attire in all spheres of life, even at the beach or by the pool. Modest swimwear is particularly in demand among young Muslim women who see an affirmation of their self-identities in choosing such outfits. Indeed, it is within the group of Muslim women that the most conservative designs in modest swimwear can be found, many featuring head-to-toe coverage. Christian and Jewish women are, by comparison, risque because even the most demure styles for them allow complete exposure of the head, forearms, and (lower) legs. (It should be noted that Ultra-Orthodox Jewish women will not permit exposure to the collar bone or above the elbows and knees.)
A hot topic for every parent in many parts of the world regardless or religious belief, appropriate attire is not always easily available or easily understood. For outsiders it all seems very anti-body, anti-sexuality, even anti-women. While many proponents might agree with the anti-sexuality charge, most feel themselves misunderstood on the other points. For them, modesty is not about shame but pride, honoring oneself and others by considerate actions - such as how one dresses, even at the beach or in the pool. Wearing modest swimwear, they like to point out, is also a great way to protect the skin from harmful sunshine and even seaside debris.
However, waterborne activities present a very practical problem as full enjoyment and participation generally means the complete freedom of movement that mainstream options seem to best present. And thus the challenge for designers is to meet demand by combining the best of both worlds - not an easy task when we consider that we are dealing with women, who though modest can still wish for clothing that is beautiful!

Toward The Fashion Show
Fashion show agency is just like directing a movie - coordinating all visual and practical aspects to make one final celebrated assembly. Even though fashion shows can be formed on any financial plan and for any type of audience, a game plan is essential to perform perfection.
PREMISE of SHOW
Every fashion show must be organized based on some general concept. Is it a Back to School Fashion Show for a mall, a showcase for a local designer, or a charity fundraiser? The client promises are endless. Creativeness is the key to dress up the show any way you see fit. There are many themed actions for holidays, stylist collaborations, color/dresses/shoes/jewelry inspired concepts, and designer or retail-driven shows. Once you have a plan for your runway, the details are much easier to solidify.
MODELS
Agency models be familiar with how to support the catwalk, but can be very luxurious. If you don't have the budget to pay industry rates, base your model search on your client's needs. Are you promoting for children line and require models under the age of 12? Is this a charity fundraiser with all ticket-holders above the age of 60? Hold a model call and position ads on free bulletins requesting possible models to show up in person to fill out appropriate sheets and take Polaroid to remember their look. This is a enormous way to build your own model base for future shows.
FASHIONS for the RUNWAY
As the maker, you may or may not have to choose the dresses for the runway. Based on your show concept, the stylists, designers, or provisions might choose the merchandise. In any situation, make sure you are familiar with all the garments in the fashion show. Each garment should be returned in the same situation it originated. Take photos at the fashion model and have a list of all items on each model. When they come back their outfit to you after the show, check for all pieces. This way you know who is accountable for what.
PRODUCTION
To get any show ready for the runway, you will need to harden a location to host the event, a runway or stage, lighting, music and of course, hair & makeup. Nightclubs, hotels, schools, drama hall and malls are accepted fashion show venues. However inspired spaces can be curved into runways. You may have a DJ to mix the music, a beauty salon sponsoring the hair/makeup, and a multimedia screen on the runway with store logos. Whatever your technical details, make sure the whole thing is experienced and ready to go earlier than the show.
SCRIPT
This entire show should be printed out in a script format. Whether you have an emcee dialogue comments on each outfit or music timed out for each individual scene, the model and fashion order is enormously important to have written down. This will make it much easier to call your show and follow along with the program.
VIP SPONSORS
On occasion, you may work with sponsors paying for the event who want more publicity onsite. Hang their banners, good deal promotional gift bags, and/or host a VIP reception for the sponsor's guests. If the sponsor is a restaurant or alcohol/beverage company, feature their creation exclusively.
With methodical planning and creativity, a fashion show can be a vast success. And so much better than a boring movie!
